In reply to my recent blog post Statism is utopian, John of blagnet.net wrote a reply on why my proposition that a workable system cannot emerge from an unworkable situation has to be wrong: because if that’s the case Anarchy can never emerge from a statist world.
If anarchy is workable and Statism is not, then anarchists advocate the evolution from an unworkable societal system to a workable one. This implies, contrary to what Francois argued (I think), that we can convert an unworkable situation into a workable one.
I concede that he is fully correct on this point. I should have looked to the people themselves, and not to the systems, as the standard of “workable” or “unworkable.”
