Some quotes about taxation…

Here are two horrible quotes I found on the subject of taxation…

From the Picket Line

Officer E. of the Abusive Tax Avoidance Transactions branch of the IRS, in a meeting with a tax resister:
“You are a threat to the compliance of the income tax system. If everyone did what you do, then the government could not do what they need to do.”

Well… that’s kindof the point isn’t it??

From the Picket Line again

From the US Dept of Justice
“Millions of hard-working Americans take time out of their hectic schedules to perform a time-consuming and often arduous task of filing federal income tax returns. 130 million Americans voluntarily engage in this ritual every year. These individuals participate because they know that with the privileges that the United States has given them come the responsibilities and obligations of citizenship.”

By the way, it seems the US government’s new term for tax resistance is “tax defiers.” How nice.

That’s why Harry Reid ( was arguing that the U.S. tax system is “voluntary”: 130 million Boobus Americanus “voluntarily” engage in the ritual.
