I would point out that just because the War on Drugs has not worked does not mean that any attempt by the government to combat drug use is automatically going to fail. I support educational campaigns and programs aimed at combating the use of drugs. The Australian government has successfully reduced smoking and dangerous driving via such means. I see no reason why similar programs couldn’t be used to reduce other unhealthy behaviours. The idea that they can’t is based on the false, liberal assumption that people can’t be influenced by their environment. They can be, for better or for worse.
On tobacco and alcohol, I completely agree. We need to keep these drugs under control. The others, not so much.
