"No future triumph or metamorphosis can justify the pitiful blighting of a human being against his will." Peter Zapffe
Here’s a funny thing.
I have an older brother who cannot stand Superman and Captain America. He is more interested in the dark and rather sociopathic “heroes” like the Punisher. I’ve always wanting to ask him how he can possibly hate two of the most patriotic superheroes ever created, especially during a time where we are being forced to choose between two fascists on both sides as our next leaders. Hell, Captain America outright said that America is dirt if it’s not willing to uphold the ideal that all men and women are born free and are each in charge of their own destiny.
Marvel What If? Volume 1 issue 44.
“America is dirt if it’s not willing to uphold the ideal that all men and women are born free and are each in charge of their own destiny.”
By Cap’s own standard, America’s always been dirt.
Maybe your friend doesn’t like to be hypocritically preached at when he’s just looking for entertainment.
